ABOUT THE ARTIST
BEN JUHL
After decades working in the film industry, Juhl pivoted from the commercial backlot to the painter's studio.
He now transforms his love for art and visual storytelling into fantastical scenes that blend elements of fiction, fantasy and lore. Juhl enjoys painting rugged characters with a backstory in boozy, atmospheric settings.
His influences include many artists of the Pulp Art area like Mort Kunster and Walter Martin Baumhofer. His modern influences include artists such as James Gurney and Gregory Manchess.
"Art is created THROUGH' me, not BY me", says Juhl. "It's the universe doing it's thing. I'm just a window to shine through."
Juhl has spent most of his life in Arizona where he now lives with his wife, two pugs and the mysterious energy of the American South West.
